# Prohibited Items Policy

## Overview

For safety, legal compliance, and platform integrity, certain items are prohibited from being transported through PeerShip. This policy applies to ALL users and ALL listings.

**Your Responsibility:** By using PeerShip, you confirm that you will NOT attempt to transport any prohibited items. Violation of this policy will result in immediate account suspension and may result in legal reporting.

## Category 1: STRICTLY PROHIBITED (Block on Detection)

These items are NEVER allowed under any circumstances. Our system will automatically block listings containing references to these items.

### 1.1 Weapons and Dangerous Items
- Firearms, guns, rifles, pistols
- Ammunition and bullets
- Explosives, bombs, grenades
- Knives and blades (over legal carry limits)
- Martial arts weapons
- Tasers and stun guns
- Weapon parts or accessories

### 1.2 Illegal Drugs and Controlled Substances
- Illegal narcotics (cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, etc.)
- Cannabis/marijuana (where illegal)
- Prescription medications without valid prescription
- Drug paraphernalia (pipes, bongs, syringes for drug use)
- Synthetic drugs and research chemicals

### 1.3 Counterfeit and Infringing Goods
- Fake designer items (bags, watches, clothing)
- Counterfeit currency
- Pirated software, movies, or music
- Items with counterfeit trademarks
- Replicas presented as authentic

### 1.4 Cash and Financial Instruments
- Large amounts of cash (over local legal carry limits)
- Bearer bonds
- Uncertified checks or money orders
- Cryptocurrency hardware wallets with funds
- Prepaid cards with value loaded

### 1.5 Hazardous Materials
- Flammable liquids or gases
- Toxic chemicals or poisons
- Radioactive materials
- Compressed gas cylinders
- Lithium batteries (loose, not in devices)
- Aerosols and pressurized containers
- Corrosive substances

### 1.6 Perishable and Temperature-Sensitive Items
- Fresh food requiring refrigeration
- Frozen items
- Plants requiring climate control
- Temperature-sensitive medications
- Live animals (except service animals with documentation)

### 1.7 Illegal Items
- Stolen property
- Items illegal to possess in origin or destination
- Contraband
- Items violating export/import laws
- Cultural artifacts without proper documentation

## Category 2: RESTRICTED (Manual Review Required)

These items MAY be allowed in some circumstances but require careful consideration and may be subject to additional verification.

### 2.1 Electronics
- Laptops and tablets
- Smartphones
- Cameras and equipment
- High-value electronics

**Requirements:**
- Must be in original packaging or with proof of purchase
- User assumes all risk for damage
- Recommended to use insurance for items over $500

### 2.2 Fragile Items
- Glassware
- Artwork
- Musical instruments
- Collectibles

**Requirements:**
- Must be properly packaged by sender
- Explicit agreement on handling requirements
- Consideration of travel conditions

### 2.3 High-Value Items
- Jewelry and precious metals
- Watches
- Designer goods (authentic)
- Collectibles over $1000 value

**Requirements:**
- Proof of ownership/ purchase receipt
- Insurance strongly recommended
- Both parties must acknowledge value
- May require additional verification steps

## Category 3: GENERALLY ALLOWED

These items are typically acceptable for transport through PeerShip.

### 3.1 Documents and Papers
- Passports and identification documents
- Legal papers and contracts
- Letters and correspondence
- Academic transcripts and certificates
- Business documents

### 3.2 Clothing and Personal Items
- Clothing and accessories
- Shoes
- Personal care items (non-liquid)
- Books and magazines

### 3.3 Small Accessories
- Sunglasses
- Wallets and bags (empty)
- Small electronics accessories
- Phone cases and screen protectors
- Cables and chargers

## Detection and Enforcement

### Automated Screening
- Listings are scanned for prohibited keywords
- Suspicious content is flagged for review
- Known prohibited items trigger automatic rejection

### User Reporting
- Users can report suspicious listings
- Reports are reviewed within 24 hours
- False reporting may result in penalties

### Consequences of Violations

**First Violation:**
- Listing immediately removed
- Warning issued to user
- Account flagged for monitoring

**Repeated Violations:**
- Account suspension (temporary)
- Mandatory policy acknowledgment
- Possible permanent ban

**Serious Violations (weapons, drugs, illegal items):**
- Immediate permanent ban
- Cooperation with law enforcement if required
- Ban from creating new accounts

## Special Considerations

### Prescription Medications
- Only allowed with valid prescription in BOTH origin and destination
- Must be in original pharmacy packaging
- Quantity must be reasonable for personal use
- Documentation may be required

### Alcohol and Tobacco
- Subject to local laws in both origin and destination
- Age restrictions apply
- Import/export restrictions may apply
- Generally discouraged for R1

### Currency and Valuables
- Cash: Prohibited over local legal limits
- Valuables: Allowed but at user's risk
- Insurance recommended for items over $500

## How to Report Violations

If you see a listing that appears to violate this policy:

1. **In-App:** Use the "Report" button on the listing
2. **Email:** Send details to hello@peership.app
3. **Subject:** Include "Policy Violation Report"
4. **Information:** Provide listing URL and specific concern

**All reports are confidential.**

## Updates to This Policy

This policy may be updated as we learn more about platform usage and legal requirements. Updates will be:
- Posted on the platform
- Notified via email for material changes
- Dated with the effective date
